This little tray by Mary Briggs is 6 1/2″ long, 4″ wide and 3/4″ high. The sides have a texture that is reminiscent of wheat. The painting is one of the most detailed I have seen on any of her pieces, and includes a smoking chimney on a barn, a fence, a group of sheep that include one black sheep and trees with brush. The sky is cloudy. She finishes all the bottoms of her pieces by sanding the terracotta and then applying wax so that they are really smooth.
