About grossular garnet: Green grossular garnet is a member of the traditional garnet family, but bears colors in shades of mossy greens. It was first discovered in the far reaches of Siberia in the 1800s, originally named gooseberry garnet after the Chinese gooseberry, known in the U.S. as Kiwi fruit.
